Working with mentors
We strongly recommend that teams work with mentors, so students can learn from their experience and have extra support for completing the program. However, having a mentor is not a requirement for teams to participate and submit to Technovation Girls.
How do I add a mentor to my team?
Beginner Division
- In the Beginner Division, a parent/guardian registers the student and that account is a joint parent/student account. If the parent/guardian chooses to mentor the student and that student’s team, no additional mentor account is necessary.
- Beginner Division teams can also find other mentors whether a parent is mentoring the team or not. After registering your team, search for your mentor and invite them to your team in the Team Building section of the platform.
Junior & Senior Division
Register your team, then you can search for mentors and invite one or more to your team.
Students who are unable to find a local mentor are also able to search on our platform for a virtual mentor, who may be located anywhere globally. We recommend finding a mentor who is in your time zone for scheduling purposes.
STUDENT SAFETY NOTE: If you opt for a mentor whom you do not know/a virtual mentor, please share this Mentorship Communications Parental Consent Form with your parent/guardian, to discuss how you will safely engage with your mentor.
