For teams submitting a mobile app: You can use more sophisticated code and integrate hardware to develop a more advanced app, but the product submitted to Technovation Girls must be a mobile application to qualify for the competition.
For teams submitting an AI solution: You can submit a prototype ranging from a cardboard prototype, to a mobile app, to an invention that uses hardware, as long as you make sure to follow the judging rubric and show how you trained your machine learning model along with how you gathered your data (and what data you gathered) to train your model with.
