Yes. It is highly recommended that students have at least intermittent internet access in order to participate in Technovation Girls. Internet access is required to access the curriculum, build their project, and to register and submit to the competition.
Check out this guide on How to Work Virtually.
If students are unable to consistently access internet, here are some tips:
Aspects that require internet access
Technovation Girls Curriculum
- It is possible to download the lessons and worksheets as PDFs. You can see how to download the curriculum here.
- Registration and submission can each be done in a single online session. Plan a day to access the internet to complete these tasks. Note that registration closes March 17th, 2025.
App and Web Building
- The two primary coding platforms of Technovation (MIT App Inventor and Thunkable) and machine learning tools (Machine Learning for Kids, Teachable Machine, etc.) require internet access to work on. Try to find a local resource and plan your work for days where you can find internet access.
- Note: We accept all coding languages.
There are many aspects of Technovation Girls that can be done offline, such as creating logos and writing your business plan. Downloading and reading through the curriculum would provide the best starting point on how to plan out working in the season
