This process creates new student accounts and automatically adds them to your membership.
Fill out the template spreadsheet with user information
Template spreadsheet link -- make your own copy and fill it in
Row 1 must have these headers, w/ correct capitalization and spacing:
Username: Student will use this to log in. We recommend using all lowercase if it’s helpful.
Password: Sets password for student’s account
First name: Student first name
Last name: Student last name
Birthday: Student birthday. If student is over 13, their account will be automatically “approved” and will not require a consent form.
Consent form: Students under 13 need to turn in parent consent forms before their account can be “approved” and they will be able to access the membership design challenges.
- Student is over 13
- leave this field blank
- Student is under 13 and you have a consent form
- use “y” or “yes”
- Student is under 13 and you don’t have a consent form
- use “n” or “no”
- the student’s account will be created but students won’t be able to access any content (until the consent form is turned in)
Email: Student or parent email is optional. This email address will receive notification emails from CM (like when a mentor responds to a project) and can be used to reset the account password.
Groups: Groups are optional. If you create groups, students will be put into groups to be displayed in your educator dashboard. Groups allow you to organize students in your membership by class, grade, or any other distinction you prefer.
If the group is new, this spreadsheet upload will create that group in your membership and add the student(s). If the group already exists in your membership, the student will be added to that group.
Note: If you’re trying to add students to the same group, make sure your group name matches exactly! Slight differences (even in capitalization) will create two different groups.
